IMPORTANT NEWS: The rules have changed (temporarily)

We want to let you know where we're at right now. As most of you know we have been working for the past twelve months on the world’s first real money person to person sports betting website. As you've come to expect we at MatesOdds HQ don't do things by halves – spending the last year working against the grain to bring to market a 'worlds first' involves a huge amount of legislative red tape and this of course isn’t easy to do. The thorn in our side right now is agreeing the payment system with the banks.

Recent developments have presented us with a temporary set back; meaning the ‘real money betting’ launch date must be delayed until this little irritation gets...erm...itched. And oh yes it will be itched; we just need a bit more time to make it so…

However, all is not lost.

At MatesOdds HQ we are a persistent bunch and regardless of our slightly niggling news we decided to push ahead anyway - and out of the ashes rises a phoenix so to speak - you see we've added a new and exciting twist to the mix that we think you’ll like… a lot!

Everybody who signs up to MatesOdds.com will start off with a tidy sum of £500 ‘play money’ added to their account. At the end of every calendar month the Top 5 players with the highest return on their £500 capital (earned through winning bets of course) will be ranked and presented in our Movers & Shakers League Table. And here’s the best bit - for the Top 5 placements we’ll be paying out real money prizes:

1st - £400
2nd - £275
3rd - £175
4th - £125
5th - £75
(payable by cheque)

Play Money accounts will be reset at the end of each month. All past monthly performances will be recorded and displayed on members’ profiles so everybody can track each others betting highs… and lows!

We’re also paying out real money for the highest Kudos Points. Kudos is points earned for all the other MatesOdds activities such as chatting in community forums, inviting friends to join MatesOdds and leaving feedback for those you’ve bet with. The Top 5 players with the highest Kudos Points at the end of the calendar month will be paid out as follows:

1st - £100
2nd - £75
3rd - £50
4th - £25
5th - £10
(payable by cheque)

This is an exciting time for us as we know there’s genuine interest in MatesOdds due to the high level of registrations thus far. As sure as eggs is eggs - has Mourinho finally cracked?

I know this is slightly off topic but I must share it with you...

I almost fell of my seat this morning whilst reading what must be the funniest football analogy in the history of all football analogies - and we've had some crackers over the years!

Little did I know that whilst sitting uncomfortably and packed in amongst 300 other miserable souls heading into work on the tube that I was about to be enlightened beyond belief by the ever erstwhile Jose Mourinho.

Talking about his injury concerns during the build up to tonight’s Champions League Group B clash with Rosenberg he bizarrely stated that with out his best players (Drogba, Lampard, Ballack, and Carvalho) it was like trying to make an omelette without the best quality eggs!

I know that’s what I thought but you just have to read this - its beautiful! [My thoughts in square brackets]

"Our style of play is important. But it is omelet’s and eggs [here we go]. It depends on the quality of eggs [what does?]. No eggs, no omelet’s [no s**t Sherlock - he's good eh?]. It depends on the quality of eggs [good grief].

"In the super market you have class one, two or three eggs [OK], some are more expensive than others [give or take a couple of million £ i think he means] and give better omelet’s [eh?].

[Here comes the grand finale]

"So when the class one eggs are in Waitrose and you cannot go there you have a problem." [It's a very fine line between madness and genius - I know where this comment resides!]

So in the world according to Mourinho - without eggs an omelet you cannot make and if the eggs are in Waitrose and you cannot go there either.... well, you're f**ked!!

Like I say pure genius - Jose you've made my morning!

I’m watching the match tonight especially to see if Jose ends up with egg on his face [sorry about that - couldn't resist]
